Welcome to Katharine Altadonna, an online gallery with a purpose and passion to showcase fine art. With the recent global pandemic of Covid 19, I believe, more now than ever, that hosting an online gallery space to share in the beauty and joy of fine art is needed. Art is healing; it is transformative. I am honored to have visited and to know so many working artists over the last several years and I am thrilled to launch this online gallery space for artists to showcase their art and for fellow art aficionados, collectors, and new visitors to feel inspired.
I am passionate about discovering beautiful works of art, whether in an artist's studio or hunting vintage works, and sharing them here. Whether you are a new collector, just stopping by, or an experienced art connoisseur, keep coming back often to see new artworks for sale.
It is my hope that you will find inspirations of joy and beauty and have the confidence to buy original works of art. Aquiring art and buying what you love, whether it reminds you of a place you have traveled, a familiar view from where you grew up, or has brushstrokes of your grandmother's favorite colors, is an investment that will bring happiness and layers of personality to your home.
Below is one of my favorite paintings that brings me joy everyday. It is a commissioned piece from 2008 of my two oldest children, painted by the lovely and talented Kate Geraci Brown. It captures my children's personalities perfectly with my daughter in her frilly costume fairy dress catching butterflies and my son's love of his animals as he holds a Rhode Island Red chicken from one of our first flocks. My son's left shoe is frayed in the back from our new puppy who had recently chewed the heel. Kate's thoughtful details and cheerful brushstrokes of the colorful gardens, that were in full bloom with bachelor buttons, sun drops, yarrow, daisies, day lilies and Japanese anemones, capture this memory perfectly. It is a constant reminder for me that my now teenagers, did spend endless hours of their early years outside, immersed in nature. This was one of my favorite summers; working in the gardens after early dinners, planting vegetables together, exploring the bubbling streams in the woods, tending to the chicken coop, having lemonade and farm fresh egg stands at the end of the driveway. I feel so fortunate to have this painting as a constant reminder of those happy times.
